Since the launch of our mobile recruitment application we have been talking in our blog posts about the increase in job seekers starting their searches on a mobile, here are some of the facts we have mentioned already:
- Google told us at the end of 2012 that 20% of job searches started on a mobile
- In the UK this equates to 8 million people and set to grow quickly through 2013
- CCS Insight expects that 75% of mobile phones in 2017 will be smart phones
- Tablet PC sales are increasing rapidly
- Job seekers expect to be able to start their search through social media and apply and manage their applications with their social profiles
- Less than 10% of recruitment firms have a mobile website
Job searching on a mobile – a useful recruitment Infographic
Then we discovered a fantastic Infographic from www.glassdoor.com which really does say it all about mobile job searching, it does relate to the US market, but we haven’t (yet) found an equivalent for the UK. However the UK mirrors and follows the US so closely in technological advances we still thought it was worth sharing with you as it illustrates the trends so well.
We noted some of the key statistics for recruiters as:
- 3 in 5 job seekers have used their mobiles to search for jobs in the past year
- 1 in 4 would not apply if a career site was not optimised
- 64% check in at an organisations social media channels prior to interview
UK mobile job search statistics from Jobsite
Prominent UK job board www.jobsite.co.uk have published statistics on mobile job hunting drawn from their users for 2012/2013 which include:
- 81% of their job hunters own a smartphone
- 40% of these use their mobile to look for new jobs
- In 2012 28% of Jobsite traffic was from a mobile device
- In 2012 541,463 people applied for jobs using their mobile
- 8.64% of job applications were from mobiles
